Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (TADECO) is one of the four GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers in the world that was awarded for obtaining the most outstanding results in their consistent compliance to GLOBALG.A.P. principles and high commitment to implementation of good agricultural practices.

Known as one of the highest yielding banana plantations in the world, TADECO is the only Philippine-based company to receive the Award. This distinction manifests TADECO’s adherence to highest standards in food safety.

For more than four decades, TADECO continues to employ stringent agricultural practices and utilize the most advanced technology in research and production to efficiently produce world-class Cavendish bananas.

On its third year, GLOBALG.A.P. honored TADECO, together with three other companies from Kenya, Brazil and Honduras, for demonstrating high standards and excellent implementation of GLOBALG.A.P. principles on their farms and production facilities.

In an article published in the official website of GLOBALG.A.P., Kristian Moeller, CEO of GLOBALG.A.P., said that “It was not easy for the jury to select the winners, as all 40 participants for our third edition of the G.A.P awards demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication in implementing Good Agricultural Practices on their farms and extending the benefits to their communities.”

“Congratulations from the GLOBALG.A.P. Board and the entire GLOBALG.A.P. staff. The G.A.P. award winners and all applicants honor our own engagement and ongoing endeavors to do everything we can to improve the sector and help secure food on the planet for many generations to come,” Moeller added.

These GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers were “acknowledged according to the innovative solutions they have developed in enhancing food safety, the level of G.A.P. integration in their farm processes and management, the effect they made on their workers’ health and safety, company values and the environment, and the efforts they make to share their knowledge and experience with other growers in their region.”

This year’s G.A.P awards 2014 focused on four specific areas that include responsible water use, increasing biodiversity, social responsibility, and role and involvement of women/youth. These criteria highlight how GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers maintain excellence in their practices through the years.

TADECO received the award during the GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT 2014 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on October 27-29, 2014.

“We welcome this most recent recognition as an affirmation of our utmost commitment in upholding the highest level of standards in our agricultural practices and technology in TADECO,” said Alexander N. Valoria, President of the premium Cavendish banana producing company.

“This fuels our passion for excellence and innovation as we move forward in delivering world-class produce to the global market,” Valoria further added.

TADECO considers both natural and material resources as its greatest riches, which translate to earning the trust of its market, employees and the surrounding communities. TADECO believes that it is incumbent on the company to reassure the consumers of the quality and safety of its bananas, its responsible treatment of the environment, as well as its priorities with regard to workers’ health, safety and working conditions.
